THE PEACOCKS

Formed as a school band in 1990 in Stammheim, Zurich, The Peacocks have since toured around half the world and released 10 studio albums, several singles, and best-of compilations.

In November 2024, their latest work, And Now What?, was released on the Nuremberg label Concrete Jungle.

Roughly 2,000 shows: The Peacocks have toured extensively across Canada and the United States, been long-time regulars in England, played two tours in Japan, and of course all over Europe. From Tromsø to Granada, from Galway to Kyiv, from Rimini to St. Petersburg – naturally with plenty of stops for gigs along the way.

They’ve shared stages with almost every legend (except Fats Domino and The Clash), as well as with local blues bands. From the biggest festival stages to a small café, the hippest club in town, or the local youth center. They hit number 1 on the Japanese Indie Charts, slept on tangled apartment carpets, or in freezing tour buses.

The Peacocks love what they do. Their style, originally influenced by the Rockabilly Revival and the Psychobilly of the 1980s, has become a perfect blend of what the London underground scene had to offer in 1981 – yet remains fresh and modern.

PADDLECELL

Eine wilde Mischung aus energetischem Oldschool-Psychobilly und schnellem Offbeat, samt klackerndem Kontrabass und fetten Blechbläsern. Die freche Ignoranz der sechs Wuppertaler gegenüber subkulturellen Grenzen zahlt sich aus, denn das dreckige Dutzend selbstgeschriebener Songs, auf dem neuen Album “Sometimes we come back!”, klingt nicht nur einmalig, sondern auch so, als hätte die Band auf das Œuvre zahlloser anderer Bands zurückgreifen können. Die gibt es aber nicht. Natürlich hat die ein oder andere Billy-Band mit Ska experimentiert (umgekehrt ja eher weniger), Paddlecell aber sind auf dem besten Weg, mal eben ein eigenes Genre zu kreieren. Eine Bezeichnung hätten sie dafür auch schon: Horror-Ska – klar bei den Themen, denen man sich textlich widmet. Die experimentierfreudige Band ist für alle interessant, die sich an 2-Tone und Ska-Punk sattgehört haben, aber nicht gänzlich auf Uptempo verzichten wollen. Und für Psychobillys insbesondere dann, wenn ihnen Vocals à la Sparky gefallen (Sänger v. Demented are Go). Denn fast so klingt Frontmann Marc.
